GRAND RAPIDS (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement, starting a 2 p.m. today, June, 5, 2018, and going through this evening for Allegan, Ottawa and Van Buren counties.
In addition to rip currents and other dangerous water conditions, waves could reach 3 to 5 feet. Water temperatures remain in the 50s, according to the NWS, and people jumping (or falling) into deeper water are at risk of cold water shock.
The hazards alert remains in effect until after nightfall.
