NEWTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a home invasion suspect apparently shot and wounded a homeowner early Thursday morning in Calhoun County’s Newton Township.
Troopers say it happened at about 12:30 a.m. in the 6000 Block of J Drive South.
The victim was inside his home and heard a loud noise near his front door. He then went outside with his shotgun to check the area and found the suspect outside.
The suspect then fired multiple rounds from an unknown firearm at the victim. One of these rounds struck the victim in the hand.
There was a report the homeowner fired back but that has not been confirmed.
The suspect, who was described as wearing a black ski mask, blue jeans and a grey t-shirt, then fled on foot.
