HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a beach hazards statement, in effect until 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2018, for Lake Michigan’s shoreline from Manistique to South Haven.
Meteorologists say strong currents are creating dangerous swimming conditions, including rip currents, at beachs all along southwest Michigan’s Lake Michigan shoreline.
Northwest winds will be high enough to cause waves of three to five feet before subsiding.
Rip currents can sweep a swimmer into deeper water. Other structural currents can knock over a swimmer standing in shallow water.
