MUSKEGON (WKZO AM/FM) — We have a new Miss Michigan. They held the 68th annual pageant in Muskegon this past week with the winner crowned Saturday night.
And the winner is…Miss Shoreline, Emily Sioma, who competed with 31 other contestants in a variety of talent, beauty and speaking competitions over three nights at the Frauenthal Center.
Sioma is 24, a graduate of the University of Michigan who comes from Grass Lake, which is near Ann Arbor. She gets the title and a $12,000 scholarship.
She will also represent Michigan at the all new Miss America Pageant in September in Atlantic City.
The so-called Miss America 2.0 will put less emphasis on curves and more emphasis on character, gone is the bathing suit competition, bring on the brains.
