LANSING (WHTC-AM/FM) — More than 120 sex assault survivors have signed a letter demanding the resignation of Michigan State University interim president, John Engler.
All the women were assaulted by former MSU doctor Larry Nassar, now imprisoned for life.
The letter, made public Tuesday morning, responds to news after Engler’s private emails to an aide were released which show the former Michigan governor questioning the ethics of survivor Rachel Denhollander, now an attorney. She was the first person to publicly accuse Nassar of sexual abuse.
The letter calls on the five MSU trustees who have not called for Engler to step aside to “stand for what is right.”
In the wake of criticism after his emails were made public, Engler released a statement suggesting he has no plans to resign and would strengthen misconduct prevention on and off campus.
