LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The Governor moved the signing for the next budget bill out to the steps of the Capitol yesterday.
He signed the bill to enact the General Fund Budget. The School Aide Budget will be signed next week,
Rick Snyder says there will be more money for schools and more for roads next year. The Governor got $100-million for his Marshall Plan for training more skilled workers.
Ther State will also be spending extra money to harden school buildings over the next two years and to hire more State Police.
The plan is to train 80 to replace the troopers scheduled for retirement, and 75 more to beef up the force.
Rep. Aaron Miller of Sturgis chairs the House State Police Appropriations Subcommittee says there is also more money for State Police Crime Labs that do most of the forensic testing in the state.
The number of new Troopers in the budget is more than the Governor originally proposed.
The new fiscal year kicks in October 1st.
