GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) –….but words could result in a really long prison sentence.
As national tensions grow over the immigration issue, a number of Homeland Security Investigators (HSI) agents have apparently been threatened and they may be making an example of a Battle Creek man and his girlfriend to dissuade others from sending threats.
Michael Clayton stood up in court on the day this month he was convicted of trafficking three young girls for sex, and threatened a special agent working out of Grand Rapids. Clayton was also convicted on drug and gun counts.
They claim his girlfriend; 28-year-old Davi Bailey of Battle Creek also sent a profanity laced threat by Facebook to the sister of one of Clayton’s three victims.
They say that is a federal crime that could mean up to life in prison in this case and she has now been arrested.
Steve Francis, special agent in charge is quoted in their news release, saying “This case should send a strong message that HSI and our partners at the U.S. Attorney’s Office will not tolerate threats to witnesses nor to law enforcement personnel.”
He adds “The recent rash of threats of violence specifically against ICE personnel is deeply disturbing and will not go unchallenged. Our personnel should be applauded for the work they do to keep our communities safe, not subjected to threats and harassment.”
