VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies are warning boaters to protect their property after reports of multiple larcenies on inland lakes in the county.
Investigators say marine batteries, fishing equipment, boat motors and kayaks have been stolen within the last week.
They are reminding homeowners to secure their property especially as more people hit the water for the 4th of July holiday.
If boaters see anything suspicious or are a victim of a theft they should contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s office at (269) 657-2006.
This warning can be also applied to practically any recreational waterway in Michigan.
