NAPOLEAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – It was a deadly holiday on Jackson County lakes as two men drowned in separate incidents.
The body of a 54-year-old man was recovered Wednesday morning in Wolf Lake after he was reported missing at about 9:40pm the night before. He was seen in the water earlier and was apparently struggling. Bystanders jumped into the water in an attempt to assist him but were unsuccessful in finding him.
A separate drowning Tuesday night in Vandercook Lake claimed the life of a 45-year-old man. He along with a woman and two children were swimming on a foam flotation mat when it overturned. The children and woman were able to swim to the surface but the man never resurfaced. He was found in 16 feet of water and later pronounced dead at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital. His drowning remains under investigation.
The names of the two drowning victims have not been released.
