SCHOOLCRAFT (WKZO AM/FM) – Despite the heat, it was a traditional 4th of July in Southwest Michigan.
Schoolcraft held its annual 4th of July Parade to mark the Nation’s birthday, as did dozens of other communities in the upper Midwest.
At the Field of Flight Event in Battle Creek, Rhett Hartsill of Texas was declared the winner of this year’s Hot Air Balloon Competition.
Shawn Raya was second, and Joe Heartsill, Rhett’s dad finished third.
The day and the weeklong event at Kellogg Field ended as the celebration did for most people, with fireworks, whether they were at a big show, a backyard show, or just watching fireworks on TV.
