HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Former Macatawa Area Transit Director Linda LeFebre, accused of one countof embezzling more than $20,000, allegedly got most of the money by falsifying her work hours, according to a Holland Sentinel story.
Police records examined by Sentinel reporter Audra Gamble indicate LeFrebre appears to have falsified records over a four-year period, claiming 760 overtime hours, totaling more than $32,000 in pay.
MAX officials noted that as a manager, LeFebre was a salaried employee with a 40-hour work week and no overtime.
She managed payroll, according to authorities.
Police records also indicated LeFebre allegedly used a MAX credit card for smaller purchases, such as AirPod headphones, a gift of fruit and accessories for a 1997 Satrun SL2.
MAX officials discovered the inaccuracies in March; LeFebre resigned in April and was arraigned in June on a single charge of embezzlement over $20,000. She could face up to 10 years in prison, along with 10s of thousands of dollars fines and fees in that.
Her next court appearance is set for Sept. 24.
