HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Allegan County’s first National Night Out is tonight, Aug. 7, 2018.
Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker said it’s a parntership with Saugatuck Township Fire District, and the City of Saugatuck and is on the heels of Allegen deputies taking over police work in Saugatuck.
“We’re excited about this opportunity.” Baker said. “It’s going to be nice for the community to be able to have a chance to meet the new deputites that are assigned to Saugatuck and get to know them, get to learn a little about our philosophy on policing and how we’re approaching this new arrangement.”
Set for 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Aug. 7, 2018, at Saugatuck’s Coughlin Park, participants will find lots of activities and learning opportunities, as well as food booths.
In Holland, National Night Out starts at 5 p.m today, Aug. 7, 2018, at Kollen Park, with music, games and a pie-eating contest, dunk tank, a vintage car show and food booths. At dusk, the city will screen the film Coco at the park. People should bring their own blankets or other seating.
New Zeeland Police Chief Tim Jungle said he hopes to have a plan of this city joining the event next year.
