GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — Republican Gubernatorial candidate Bill Schuette is announcing Lisa Posthumus Lyons as his running mate that will be on the November ballot.
Speaking at the Kent County GOP headquarters Wednesday morning, Schuette said Lyons will help create a better-trained workforce with her leadership on education.
In a written announcement, Schuette stated that “Lisa knows we’re paying too much for auto insurance and too much in taxes and I know she’ll do everything it takes to help me roll back the ‘temporary’ Jennifer Granholm income tax.”
Lyons, a former State Representative and the current Kent County clerk, thanked her father, husband, children, and Schuette for the opportunity to continue “Michigan’s comeback” story.
During her first speech in her hometown on Wednesday she said that she has worked too hard to have Gretchen Whitmer take Michigan back to the “lost decade.”
So far there is no word on who Whitmer’s running mate will be on the Democratic ticket.
