HICKORY CORNERS (WKZO AM/FM) — The clean-up is underway. The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado tore up the trees and caused minor damage to a building on the northern shore of Little Long Lake, near the Barry/Kalamazoo County Line.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Heather Orow says it was rated a E-0 on the enhanced Fujita scale, with top winds of 75mph. She says it formed over the lake just after 7 pm and traveled about 4/10’s of a mile before dissipating over land.
NWS Crews who investigated the damage on the ground estimate it touched down about two minutes.
One witness says he actually saw the funnel drawing water out of the lake. There were no injuries.
Two other twisters were also confirmed as a result of the stormy weekend weather.
A tornado near Morley in Mecosta County destroyed a double-wide mobile home scattering debris for hundreds of feet. There were no injuries.
The NWS also confirmed that small EF-0 tornado touched down on the west side of Jackson Saturday night
