LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Tenants, landlords, and courts are bracing for a new wave of evictions after a Federal moratorium expired over the weekend. But help is available for people who may be struggling to pay their rent in Michigan.
In March, before the moratorium ended, the COVID Emergency Rental Assistance program launched in Michigan to help renters pay back rent and avoid eviction.
As of late last week, more than half of those who applied to the program are still waiting for their application to be processed and more than $500 million is still left to be distributed.
Residents who need help are encouraged to contact housing assistance programs while funding is still available.
