HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Davian Joseph Weston, 17, of Holland Township, is in Ottawa County Jail on $5,000 bond after a gun incident at West Ottawa High School on Sept. 13, 2018, according to a statement from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
He was arraigned in Holland’s 58th District Court Friday, before Judge Susan Jonas, on charges of carrying a concealed weapon; receiving and concealing a stolen firearm, and possession of a weapon in a weapon free school zone. If convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, he could face 5 years in prison and up to $2,500 in fines; or fines up to $5,000 and 10 years in prison for receiving/concealing a stolen firearm; or up to 93 days behind bars, community service up to 150 hours and fines up to $2,000 for having a weapon in a weapon-free zone.
Weston was arrested Thursday morning after classmates spotted the gun and alerted school authorities, who in turn alerted Ottawa County Sheriff’s school resource officers, deputies Kristina Workman and Deputy Tonya Kimber.
No one was injured during this incident and no one was threatened with the firearm, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. He did have a firearm in his possession at the time of his arrest, according to police.
Weston remains at the Ottawa County Jail.
