BRADLEY, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The new chairman of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, better known as the Gun Lake Tribe, is Bob Peters.
The tribe made the announcement on Monday after the Tribal Council selected the four-year veteran of the panel to be its leader last Thursday. Peters, with nearly two decades of experience in gaming operations and tribal government employment, has been handling all fiscal matters for the Tribe, as well as non-gaming economic development ventures. Peters is also the grandson of former tribal elder Joseph Sprague.
Last Thursday’s meeting was also the first for the Council since an August 28, 2018 election by tribal citizens in which Peters, Jennie Pearl Heeren and Nicole Overbeek were chosen at the ballot bos. Heeren was named to replace Peters as the Council treasurer, with Ed Pigeon serving as its Vice Chairman and Jeff Martin as Secretary.
