KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Monday, the Kalamazoo Growlers and Outlier Events announced a new festival for beer lovers and dog owners alike.
The “Barks & Brews Festival” is being touted as a beer festival where dogs are welcome. Organizers say the festival will feature dog beers, treats, ice cream and more.
Barks & Brews Festival is coming to Homer Stryker Field on Saturday, August 28. Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring well-behaved K9 companions along.
“As a dog owner myself, I am excited to turn the ballpark into a dog park for the day and allow others to have that experience,” Director of Special Events with Outlier Events Nick Stoglin said in a statement. “We don’t usually allow dogs on the field, so it will be a unique experience for everyone involved. It is fulfilling for us to try something new, celebrate dog owners and their companions.”
Food trucks and other vendors will be available on site. A beer tent will feature a large array of craft beers from local breweries through IHS Distributing, and will be available to those of age with the right ticket type.
Designated Driver tickets will also be available for those choosing not to enjoy the beer tent.
To provide an enhanced experience for festival goers and decrease wait time in lines, officials say the event will offer early entry to VIP ticket holders at 1 p.m.
Then, General Admission ticket holders will be granted entry from 2 to 7 p.m.
All attendees will receive food and drink sampling tokens with their tickets, along with a souvenir cup.
Officials say tickets for this festival are expected to go quickly, those interested in attending the festival are encouraged to sign up now for the priority list.
Those who do so will gain first access to tickets before they go on sale to the general public on August 11.
The priority list sign up can be found at barksandbrewsfestival.com.
