HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Police are crediting Tami Geerts for her quick thinking in rescuing a 22-year-old Allendale Township man after his car went into the small lake in the Placid Lakes subdivision Saturday morning.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s officials said police were alerted as they were en route to the scene that the car had sunk to the point where only the trunk was visible.
Geerts took immediate action, diving into the water and searching around the car until she found a partially opened rear window. She was able to pull that man — the car’s only occupant — out of the vehicle and get him to shore.
First responders got him to an area hospital for treatment, accordign to police.
