ST. JOSEPH (WKZO AM/FM) — Deputies in Berrien County claim a man who allegedly used a false threat about a gunman in a school to avoid being arrested on an outstanding warrant, is now in custody, and facing additional charges.
Deputies claim Justin Bashore of Niles wanted to distract police back on September 7th who were about to arrest him for failure to pay child support, and called in a report about a man with a rifle leaving a bathroom at Eau Claire High School.
The Deputies were dispatched to the school and he slipped away.
They subsequently traced the call to his phone and Wednesday night tracked him down for the original warrant, and several new counts including felony false reporting and resisting and obstructing.
