GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — Today is another Empty the Shelters Day.
The Bissell Pet Foundation is promoting pet adoption at some 60-shelters around the state and many more around the region. They hope hundreds will find forever homes.
Kathy Bissell at the West Michigan based non-profit says they are putting their money where their heart is. They will pick up the fees for you.
Among the shelters participating in the area: Al-Van Humane Society in South Haven, Companion Cats in Battle Creek, The SPCA and The Kalamazoo Animal Rescue in Kalamazoo, and county run animal control shelters in Barry, Cass and Van Buren Counties.
Since they began the events, over 13-thousand pets have been adopted in 17 states. More information is available at bissellpetfoundation.org.
