UNDATED, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Students across the state are lacing up their tennis shoes and participating in International Walk to School Day.
Over 250 schools throughout the state are participating in the 22nd annual event.
Among those taking part is Kalamazoo Public School’s El Sol Elementary School.
Principal Dr. Natalie Wilson says the whole community comes together for their event to volunteer, walk with students, and be a good example.
The main goals of the day are to promote a healthier lifestyle, a cleaner environment, pedestrian safety, and a stronger sense of community.
Drivers should be more cautious of eager students traveling on foot Wednesday during their morning commute.
Participating schools can be found at saferoutesmichigan.org.
