LOS ANGELES, CA (WTVB) – The death of a famous St. Joseph County native has been ruled a suicide by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
They announced Wednesday that actor Vern Troyer’s death in April was caused by alcohol poisoning after years of alcohol abuse.
The 49-year-old Troyer was born in Sturgis and grew up in Centreville.
He was best known for his role as “Mini-Me” in the Austin Powers movies.
TMZ reported the two-foot-eight-inch-tall actor was rushed to the hospital April 3, 2018 with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit and that Troyer passed away a few weeks after he was put on life support.
