OAKLAND COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — It was all there on the video. An Oakland County man has been found guilty of assault for taking a pot-shot at a 14-year-old boy who just knocked on their door in Rochester Hills for directions to school.
The Prosecutor argued in her closing statements that Jeffrey Zeigler’s actions because the boy was African-American, were outrageous and criminal.
Zeigler had claimed the gun went off accidentally, but the jury was shown home security video of a shirtless Zeigler aiming and firing at Walker, who was running away.
But they were not apparently convinced that Zeigler intended to kill the teen, and found him guilty of assault with intent to injure, a lesser assault charge than what prosecution argued for.
Sentencing is set for November 13th.
