COLON, MI (WTVB) – The identity of the man who was killed Saturday night in a house fire north of Colon has been released.
According to an obituary posted on line by Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Services, 34-year-old Nickolas Dane Grzelak died in the fire which took place in the 31000 block of Depot Street in Leonidas Township.
The home was fully engulfed in flames by the time the first crews arrived making any rescue attempt impossible.
Grzelak’s body was recovered after the fire was extinguished.
A celebration of his life has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Lighthouse of Athens.
At last report, the cause of the fire was still under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal’s Office and the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.
