UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — Local Clerks and election officials are urging voters to do their homework before going to the polls.
They say with straight ticket voting unavailable, voters can still go through and color in all the dots besides Democrats or Republicans, but school board races and judgeships aren’t partisan, and they will still have to vote for the three ballot items separately.
Election officials are gearing up for what is expected to be a record turnout and slow voters could mean lines.
Voters can get a copy of their ballot at vote411.org or at Michigan.gov/vote and know exactly what they are doing before they walk in.
Voters who are over 60, disabled or have some other reason that makes them eligible to vote absentee but unable to make it to the polls on Tuesday, can report to their local clerk’s office on Monday and fill out an absentee ballot on the spot. It may be an alternative for some.
