LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Grant funding to prevent sexual assaults at Michigan’s colleges and universities has been awarded to 22 schools, but Michigan State University is not among them.
This is the program promoted by First Lady Sue Snyder.
The largest amount was awarded to Grand Valley State University, which has been plagued by high profile sexual assaults near campus for the last two years. They will receive $248,000.
Western Michigan University is getting the second largest grant at $132,000.
Lake Michigan, Glen Oaks and Jackson Colleges also won smaller grants, which were all awarded to fund specific programs that competed for a share of the $1-million state allocation.
