OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Grand Haven Township resident Cameron Michael Toppen, 19, stands charged with two felonies — murder and first-degree child abuse in the death of 8-month-old Scarlett Rae-Marie Burroughs, who died over the weekend, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett.
Toppen, arraigned by video before Holland’s 58th District Judge Bradley Knoll, is due back in court for a probable cause hearing. Knoll denied bond; Toppen remains in Ottawa County Jail.
On Saturday , a Kent County baby boy died after suffering similar injuries. His father, Twenty-eight-year-old Matthew Doyle, is in Kent County Jail has been charged with murder.
