LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Governor-elect Gretchen Whitmer is breaking a small tradition, holding her inaugural celebrations in Detroit instead of Lansing.
She has announced her celebration will begin at Cobo Hall at 7 p.m. on January 1 following a traditional swearing in ceremony earlier in the day at the Capitol in Lansing.
Three other celebrations are planned in Flint, Grand Rapids and Marquette on January 12, January 26, and February 16 respectively.
Tickets for the Cobo Hall party will be $150 per person.
