UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — A government report says the effects of climate change are real and growing, could ruin our economy, damage food production and cause a variety of health issues.
The federal government report, compiled by a large group of scientists, confirms we only have ourselves to blame.
NOAA’s David Easterling at the National Climate Assessment predicts that California wildfires and hurricanes in the Atlantic will only get worse.
For Michigan they predict a warming trend that will bring more rain and flooding.
He also says that tropical diseases that were kept out of the region by the cold winters will begin to spread north.
The White House is downplaying the report as a “worst case scenario”, but it is consistent with a number of other international reports on the causes and impacts of global warming.
The federal government released the report on the day after Thanksgiving, which is typically one of the slowest news days of the year.
The president of the National Wildlife Federation accuses the Trump administration of trying to bury the truth, and called it “an absolute disgrace”, given all the deaths and destruction caused by climate change this year alone.
