LAWRENCE (WKZO AM/FM) — A tip about a couple of wanted fugitives and some persistence paid off for Van Buren County Deputies Saturday night when they went to a home in the 56,000 block of 56th Street in Lawrence.
Sgt. Casey Davis says as they were investigating, the two subjects showed up in a vehicle.
When they saw the deputies one of them ran into the home and the other was arrested.
Deputies looked into the home and saw a third man, Bobby Tillery, who was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for possession of Dangerous Drugs.
The second man who ran into the building surrendered before they got their search warrant.
The 42-year-old Tillery was nowhere to be found when they first searched the home.
A more thorough search revealed a trap door under carpet under a sofa. They found Tillery hiding in the crawl space under the home.
He was arrested, along with three others for various parole and outstanding traffic violations.
