LOS ANGELES (WKZO AM/FM) — Some may say the future of the auto industry is electric vehicles that drive themselves, but for now it seems to be all about SUV’s and pickup trucks.
A Michigan-based firm called Rivian has just unveiled a new SUV and pickup truck that are both electric, go fast, have long ranges and despite having some self-driving features, will be designed to go to places no autonomous system will take you…off road.
CEO RJ Scaringe reportedly has about a billion dollars in financing, has purchased an abandoned Mitsubishi plant in Normal, Illinois and plans to sell the vehicles he has just revealed at the L.A. Auto Show for $70,000 each.
