HARTFORD (WKZO AM/FM) — The death of a contract worker who was apparently buried by falling cattle-feed on a farm near Hartford is under investigation.
Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 66000 block of County Road 362 near Hartford at about 6:30 Friday morning.
The 35-year-old was dug out of the pile of corn silage next to a silo by a co-worker and resuscitation efforts were begun, but the victim could not be revived.
The Herald-Palladium is reporting that the victim was standing under a 30 foot tall stack of corn silage when it broke loose.
He was transported to Watervliet Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called in to assist in the investigation of the death of the Middleville man.
The victim was reportedly subcontracted by a Grand Rapids firm and was at the farm to conduct testing. His name has not been released.
