DETROIT (WKZO AM/FM) — Charges will likely be dropped against Raymond Durham, the Detroit man who police say shot and killed Officer Collin Rose.
Investigators say the Richland native was gunned down when he confronted Durham while investigating auto burglaries near the Wayne State campus just over two years ago.
This week for the fifth time, Durham was found incompetent to stand trial. State doctors say he is psychotic and delusional and unable to aid in his own defense.
The 60-year-old will remain in a mental institution and should the day ever come when he is no longer mentally ill, the murder charges can be refiled.
Police say Durham also wounded two other Detroit Police officers before he was finally taken into custody.
