WASHINGTON DC (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport has received a one million dollar grant that will be used to establish air service to Charlotte, NC.
US Rep. Fred Upton announced the news of the award Thursday in Washington, DC.
Upton said that the money will be used to “help create jobs, spur regional investment, and expand passenger service from Kalamazoo to Charlotte.”
Upton recently submitted a request for money through an FAA airport improvement program to extend the main runway in Kalamazoo, in order to attract more air carriers and passengers to the facility.
The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Airport has more than fifteen flights per day on three different airlines, and served over 305,000 passengers in 2019.
