KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATE: Tuesday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) announced that a suspect in a stabbing case has been arrested.
The incident had previously occurred Monday evening at the Ampersee Avenue homeless encampment.
A search for the suspect Monday night yielded no arrests, but police say the suspect was found and arrested Tuesday morning.
The suspect, a 39-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of assault with intent to murder.
His name is being withheld pending arraignment.
Meanwhile, police say the victim is expected to recover from their wounds.

Police in Kalamazoo are searching for a suspect in connection to a stabbing incident at a homeless camp Monday evening.
Officials say it happened near Bridge St. and Ampersee Ave. around 6:00 p.m.. Investigators used a K-9 track to try to find the suspect but were not successful.
Initial investigations have led police to believe that there is no danger to the public. They are continuing to conduct interviews to try and locate the suspect, but have not identified or released any other information about them.
