PORTAGE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage Public Schools district voters will go to the polls on August 3rd to consider a bond issue that would replace five aging elementary schools and renovate another, purchase new fuel-efficient buses, and update technology.
The 175.7-million-dollar request will not result in an increase in taxes, due to the retirement of a previous bond, low interest rates, and the district’s excellent financial status.
The schools slated for replacement are Angling Rd, Amberly, Central Elementary, Haverhill, and Woodland, with renovations planned for Moorsbridge.
For more information, go to the district’s website, www.portageps.org.
