BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched Sunday afternoon to a structure fire at the vacant Southwestern Junior High.
Fire officials say Engine 2 and Rescue 4 arrived at the building at 390 South Washington Avenue around 3:50 p.m.to find smoke showing from the first floor library. They say a quick offensive attack and established water supply brought the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by BCFD Fire Marshal.
Two persons of interest have been detained by the Battle Creek Police Department relative to this investigation.
