BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Charges have been filed in connection with a murder that took place over 15 years ago in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reported on Wednesday that Calhoun County Prosecutors have filed charges against 33-year-old Tyreise D. Carpenter in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Benjamin Holmes of Kalamazoo.
The Enquirer reports Carpenter is currently lodged in the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana on unrelated charges.
The shooting took place in April of 2006 at the former Par Four bar on West Michigan Avenue.
The charge was filed following a Battle Creek Police Department cold case investigation that lasted for almost a year-and-a-half.
