LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Changes could be coming to unmarried partners of State of Michigan employees.
Republican Senator Rick Jones has introduced a bill to take away benefits from domestic partners, saying there are about 120 currently receiving them and it’s costing taxpayers around a million dollars a year.
The domestic partner benefits package was offered by the state before gays and lesbians were allowd to get married under former Governor Jennifer Granholm.
State Representative Jim Runestad plans similar bills in the House.
