LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Twenty Four Teachers have been picked from around the state to sit on a board that will help State Superintendent Brian Whiston seek ways to improve the overall quality of schools.
Over 310 teachers applied for the slots. They will provide feedback and help guide the implementation of the “Every Student Succeeds act”. That is the latest federal plan to help lift up the lowest performing schools by basically returning most of the responsibility back to the states.
The Teachers Advisory panel will hold their first and only face to face meeting next Tuesday in Bath. After that they will get together online.
Laura Chang of Vicksburg and Jonathan Starkey of Sturgis will serve from our area.
