THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – An outbreak of norovirus forced the shutdown of summer camping activities at Camp Eberhart near Three Rivers.
Nearly four dozen campers and staffers got sick and as a precaution, over 300 campers were sent home last week.
They were planning to reopen the camp Wednesday after it got a good scrubbing.
It’s the same highly contagious bug that played havoc with west Michigan schools last year and made Cruise Ship passengers miserable a few years ago.
The YMCA of Michiana operates the camp and they closed it on the advice of the Michigan Department of Health.
The bug can be transmitted from person to person, through food, water or on surfaces. It usually runs its course in a few days.
