QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – No students were reported to be seriously injured when a Quincy Community School bus was struck from behind by a full sized pickup Thursday morning
Branch County Central Dispatch says the accident happened on Central Road just east of Fremont Road at about 7:20 a.m.
Quincy Interim Superintendent Martin Chard says the nearly 40 students on bus number 15 were not seriously injured, and another bus was called in to take the youngsters to class.
The drivers of the bus and pickup truck were not injured.
Chard said because the school nurse is on maternity leave, a nurse was sent from the Community Health Center of Branch County to check on the students who were on the bus.
He added the students would be monitored throughout the day. A counselor was also on hand during the school day for the youngsters.
One student was taken to CHC by her mother after complaining of headaches. She was later released. A high school student was also taken home by a parent after complaining of headaches.
Pictures show the back emergency door and the rear bumper on the bus were damaged and bus number 15 will be out of commission for awhile. The pickup sustained significant front end damage.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
