LANSING (WKZO-AM/FM) — U.S. Marshals and Michigan State Police have tracked down and arrested a suspected bomb-maker who left a couple of improvised explosive devices in a mobile home in Delhi Township near Lansing that were discovered by the owner of the mobile home on Tuesday.
Just so it was clear what it was, the suspect also painted “boom” on the outside of one of the devices, adding smiley faces, for some reason. But they were no joke. One of them was filled with shrapnel.
It has not been discussed how powerful the crudely-built devices may have been if ignited. What began as a local investigation became a federal case with the FBI and the ATF also joining the probe.
What the alleged bomber planned to do with the devices is not clear. No information about the suspect has been released. That person is being held in the Ingham County Jail, but it’s not clear what the charges are, or whether they will be state or federal charges, or both.
