DETROIT (WKZO AM/FM) — The IRS wants you to know that they will never contact you through the internet or social media.
There is a new scam that involves an internet notice that demands you fill out some IRS forms. IRS
Spokesperson Luis Garcia says both the seal of the IRS and the FBI are phony. When you click to get the forms, your computer is infected with ransomware, and access to your data may be encrypted by Hackers.
The hackers say they will unlock it if you pay ransom but the FBI says more often than not, they don’t comply even if you do pay.
The IRS says get in touch with them if you receive the E-mail, and whatever you do…don’t call up the documents.
