UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — It looks like those higher gas prices promised by the analysts have finally arrived at most West Michigan area gas stations, thanks to Hurricane Harvey.
Most have jumped to around $2.60 a gallon or higher.
Patrick Dehaan at GasBuddy.com says they may rise some more because more refineries have shut down since Monday as Harvey has moved up the coast. Supplies are also dwindling as some pipelines have been shut down.
He says it won’t last forever. Fall is normally a time when demand declines and prices fall and DeHaan says eventually that will kick in, but it may be a month or more depending on how much damage was done at Gulf Coast refineries and how quickly they can resume production.
