MACKINAW CITY (WKZO-AM/FM) — The number of marchers who made it across the Mackinac Bridge during the annual Labor Day walk was down this year, estimated at about 25,000.
Changes for security reasons this year prompted organizers to shut off traffic during the walk, making the logistics of the event a bit more problematic.
That may have been one reason for the lower turnout, officials said.
Mackinac Bridge Authority spokesperson Bob Sweeney said they plan to meet with all the agencies involved and work on fixing bugs so the event runs more smoothly next year.
