WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM) – In the wake of the Trump Administration’s Tuesday decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, one that shields roughly 800 thousand undocumented “Dreamers” who were brought into the US as children, this political hot potato now lands squarely on the feet of the men and women on Capitol Hill.
In a morning tweet on Tuesday, President Trump said lawmakers must be prepared to, quote -“Do your job.” During his weekly conversation on “WHTC Morning News,” St. Joseph Republican Fred Upton says he and his colleagues in Congress are ready to “do their job” on this. “There has been a lot of discussions over the last couple of weeks, and this needs to be done with laws, not with Executive Orders,” Upton explained. “The bottom line is – we need to work together to get it fixed, to get it done.”
There will be a six-month delay in ending DACA, allowing time to craft a legislative solution.
