FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Fennville High School’s football coach will have to spend his team’s next two games on the bench.
On Tuesday the district suspended Varsity Football coach Brian Sackett for two games after an incident happened on the sidelines during Friday’s game against Coloma. Sackett grabbed a player by his shoulder pads and yelled at him. A witness says he saw Sackett grab the player near his collar, shake him, and scream at him after a tackle caused tension between a few players.
Sackett admitted to the altercation during the district’s investigation. He said he apologized to the player a few minutes after the incident and in a post on Facebook, Sackett said what he did was wrong, and apologized.
While he sits out two games, assistant coaches will take over for Sackett.
