LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — It can be easy to hide a poor work record in Michigan because former employers don’t want to expose themselves to lawsuits and it’s easy enough to lie on a resume.
For most employers it’s buyer beware, but when that employee is a gun carrying officer of the law, it can be frightening.
That’s why Michigan Senator Rick Jones has proposed legislation that would require complete work records on sworn officers be kept and made available to other departments on request.
It’s also why the bills have now cleared both Houses and are headed for the Governor’s desk.
Jones, who is a former Sheriff, calls it the “Gypsy Cop Phenomenon” and says it has to stop.
